Which cruise line should I choose?
I'm planning an anniversary cruise for April 2010. I'm undecided as to which cruise to choose from below. Based on their itineraries, which would be the better cruise? We are in out late 20's:
Royal Caribbean: Adventure of the Seas
Day 1: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Day 2: At Sea
Day 3: Oranjestad, Aruba
Day 4: Willemstad, Curacao
Day 5: At Sea
Day 6: Roseau, Dominica
Day 7: Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Day 8: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Princess Cruises:Caribbean Princess
Day 1: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Day 2: Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Day 3: Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Day 4: St. John's, Antigua
Day 5: Castries, St. Lucia
Day 6: Bridgetown, Barbados
Day 7: At Sea
Day 8: San Juan, Puerto Rico
I have cruised both of those itineraries and both cruise lines. My recommendation would be to go on the Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas. That is a fantastic ship and we cruised it on that same itinerary. It has a lot on activities on board for you to enjoy on the "at sea" days. It has a rock climbing wall, a roller blade track, an ice skating rink, a mini-golf course, and a basketball court. It will have a great free ice show like the ice capades performed by mostly former Olympian skaters. It has great cabins, food service and a nice pedestrian mall down the center of the ship with a few shops and eating places. Below that is the casino. It has a multilevel disco right off of the mall.
The main difference I see and experienced between the itineraries is the first has two "at sea" days when you can relax on ship and not be rushed to get off ship to go tour or to a beach. The second itinerary is nice and I enjoyed the islands but it was kinda tiring to have to get up and off the ship every day. Both itineraries have St Thomas as a port stop so if you are a shopper that is the place to do it. There are not a lot of "must see" sights in the other places; they are mainly beach stops for beach and water related activities.
The food and service on both ships is about the same. The princess ship will likely have a slightly older and more reserved crowd but still a fun cruise.
